The Grand Canyon is a steep sided canyon carved by the Colorado river in the US state of Arizona in North America. The Grand Canyon is a natural wonder of the world that is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. It includes 2 billion years of the Earth geological history, as well as having a rich history regarding the various indigenous Native American populations that live in the area.

The land on the south side of the Grand Canyon is called the South Rim and the land on the north side of the Grand Canyon is called the North Rim. The South Rim is open for visits all year, while the North Rim is only open for visits from May to October. There are trails leading from the North Rim and the South Rim to the bottom of the canyon. Some people can also ride miles into the Grand Canyon and most people who visit the Grand Canyon drive their cars to the South Rim to just look at the canyon from the Rim.
